Tri-Village School District News Article

COVID-19

Dear Tri-Village Families and Staff,

At Tri-Village Local Schools, the health, safety and well being of students and staff are top priorities.  In recent weeks, we have seen a rapidly evolving situation with the coronavirus (COVID-19) throughout the world and United States. With the disease making headlines, district officials want to make sure to reinforce preventative safety measures and to provide an update on how we are monitoring the situation.

The district has already seen a flu season that has impacted many students, staff members and families to date.  As we do with any increased flu activity, the district takes precautionary measures to try and control the spread.  Measures include regular reminders to our students to:

  • =         Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • =         Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • =         Do not share food, drinks or eating/drinking utensils.
  • =         Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • =         Stay home when sick.
  • =         Cough or sneeze into an elbow or use a tissue and place immediately in the trash.
  • =         Get adequate sleep and eat well balanced meals.

In addition to reminders to students, the district custodial staff routinely cleans and disinfects frequently touched objects and surfaces.  Teachers regularly wipe surfaces down during the day and when certain classrooms have seen a higher rate of students absent due to the flu, that classroom receives additional cleaning by the custodial staff.  With the slim potential of the onset of COVID-19, the district will take additional cleaning measures and have supplies on hand.

Rest assured, district officials are monitoring the situation abroad and taking guidance and recommendations from national, state and local health agencies to prevent any infection of a respiratory virus on our campus.  While there are no reports of the COVID-19 in our schools and as of the date of this statement, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ohio, it is important that we all remain informed and take reasonable precautions to prevent the spread of any infectious diseases.

As the situation evolves, the district will maintain close contact with appropriate officials, follow recommendations issued and keep you informed of district plans.  As mentioned above, our primary concern is the health and safety of our students and staff.  Additional information is available at the CDC website (https://www.cdc.gov) and the Ohio Department of Health (https://odh.ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov/odh/home). Those resources are also available through the district’s website.

Sincerely,

Josh Sagester

Superintendent
