Beginning in the 2023-2024 school year, Per Ohio Revised Code (3313.60) and Senate Bill 288 - Erin's Law, each school district in Ohio is required to provide developmentally appropriate instruction in child sexual abuse prevention for grades K-6 and developmentally appropriate instruction in sexual violence prevention education for grades 7-12, which must include instruction in recognizing dating violence warning signs and characteristics of healthy relationships. Instruction is to occur annually and include information on available counseling and resources for children who are sexually abused. Instruction and information provided cannot be connected in any way to any individual, entity, or organization that provides, promotes, counsels, or makes referrals for abortion, or abortion-related services.
Please note that upon written request of the student's parent or guardian, a student shall be excused from taking instruction in child sexual abuse prevention. Tri-Village Local Schools will use state-approved curricula as a resource. The curricula are posted in the Students and Parents page of the district website.
