Tri-Village MVCTC FFA Wins Darke County Contest
The Tri-Village MVCTC FFA Chapter competed at the 2019 Darke County Soils Contest hosted by Martin Farms and Darke County Soil & Water Conservation. The soils contest is split into two separate divisions. The first division; Urban Soils, is based around evaluating soils to determine its suitability for uses such as buildings with basements, septic tanks, roadways and landscapes. The second division; Agricultural (Rural) Soils, is based on the land’s use for agricultural crops, nutrient levels and water/erosion management.  Tri-Village swept both divisions in 2019. The Urban Team, won their division by 131 points while accounting for 8 of the Top 10 individuals, including; 1st Place Maddie Downing, 2nd Place Meghan Downing, 4th Place Jonathon Crawford, 5th Place Ryan Stephan, 6th Place Jadyn Sharp, 8th Place Austin Kosier, 9th Place Caleb Derksen, and 10th Place Carl Singer.  The Agricultural Team, won their division by just 9 points while accounting for 5 of the Top 10 individuals including; 3rd Place Gavin Lochard, 4th Place Kate Gross, 5th Place Madison Crawford, 6th Place Christyana Roberts, and 7th Place Zachary Delarwelle.

This is the first time Tri-Village FFA has won both contests at the County level. Both teams will travel to Sycamore State park on September 26th to compete in the District 5 Soils Contest against teams from Preble, Mercer, Auglaize, Darke, and Montgomery Counties.
