Students at Tri-Village can expect “another rewarding and productive school year” at Tri-Village as they head back to school on Tuesday, Aug. 26, said Superintendent Josh Sagester. An open house will be held Monday beginning at 5:30 p.m. for all students, kindergarten through 12th grade.
“The staff is motivated, committed and eager to make this another memorable year for our students and stakeholders,” Sagester commented. “We will continue the charge toward academic excellence while incorporating the many changes being dispensed from the state level.”
The aim is to shrink the achievement gap, while continuing to emphasize curriculum, instruction and assessment, Sagester noted.
“Specifically, our areas of focus will be on data driven decision-making, best practices, differentiation, school safety, and a positive school climate,” Sagester said.
Sagester noted that while there have never been more challenges in education, Tri-Village is “poised to prosper” and ready for the challenges ahead.
With more than 100 hard-wired computers on campus, set up in “aesthetically pleasing” environments, Tri-Village has prepared for “maximum student success,” Sagester stated.
“The district is ready for these challenges and continues to seek ways to be more competitive and innovative in the educational marketplace so that our students have the necessary tools to excel,” Sagester commented. “Our outstanding educators and staff are working diligently to meet the demands while creating high quality opportunities for students to be college and career ready.”
The district welcomes eight new teachers, or teachers in new roles, Sagester said, including Katie Osborne in the preschool; Wanda Roberts, fourth grade science; Matt Harman, fifth grade math; Stephanie Rowland, Title I coach; Emma McKenzie, Title I coach; Michelle Groff, Title I coach; Jules Grasso, 7-12 English; and George Kowalski, 7-12 science.
The district will utilize the Ohio Teacher Evaluation System, which they prepared for last year, and are ready to implement, Sagester said. Along with that, they’ll use the Ohio Principal Evaluation system for the second year, he added.
With the change of required days and calamity days, Sagester said the district will continue to recognize the old system and have planned for five calamity days and three blizzard bag days, due to ratifying a new collective bargaining agreement prior to July 1, he noted.
“As superintendent, my door is always open, and I welcome your input,” Sagester asserted. “We anticipate another successful year at Tri-Village as my team and I support the academic, social and emotional growth of your child(ren).”
